August 12 marked a memorable day for all LEGO lovers! At the Main Atrium of the Mall of Asia, the first ever Philippines themed Lego Exhibit entitled LEGO PILIPINAS, TARA NA! was unveiled. A giant Philippine map made fully with Lego bricks, and looking at it upclose, featured some of our country’s most beautiful landmarks and tourist attractions.

The beautiful Philippines, 18×30 feet in LEGO

Davao’s Pearl Farm Resort

The Mayon Volcano

Bacolod’s Masskara Festival (which is happening on Oct 1-20, 2011!)

The Tarsier with the Chocolate Hills of Bohol
The Department of Tourism Secretary Alberto Lim was there to grace the DOT-LEGO partnership and LAJ’s Patrick Pesengco shared with everyone the vision for this Lego campaign- to highlight the infinite possibilities of what the human imagination can do and champion the value of nationalism.

The guests of honor were awarded Lego portraits
The exhibit also allowed exhibit visitors to make a concrete contribution to our country through the SM Foundation. In the “Brick House for Children” corner, guests are asked to donate P1,000 and in the donor’s name, a Lego house is displayed to symbolize the donation. The SM Foundation will be the lead agency to identify DSWD’s centers for children who will benefit from this project. As of the launch date, the event had already collected P100,000!

100 houses x P1,000 = P100,000 for a good cause!
There was also a photo exhibit called PASSION TO INSPIRE: Ang Galing ng Pilipinas, ang Galing ng Pilipino which highlighted Filipinos were not afraid to dream and with their hard work and passion was able to inspire others.
Mommy Mundo’s founder, Janice Villanueva, was one of the featured personalities in this exhibit!

Other notable personalities were:

Edric and Joy Mendoza of The Masters Academy, Homeschooling advocates

Dr. Queena Lee Chua and son Scott

Jim Fuentebella, head of the Max’s group and Krispy Kreme Philippines

Artist Michael Cacnio (who, incidentally, will have his own Lego inspired Art exhibit which opens this September 16 at the Greenbelt 5 Atrium.)
The Lego Pilipinas Event was presented by LAJ Philippines and the Department of Tourism. It was supported by SM Mall of Asia,

The SM Mall of Asia, Lego-style
The Philippine Star, the Picture Company, Mommy Mundo and Creative Juice, its logistics partner.

The Lego Pilipinas Exhibit will open again soon. We will announce the next venues here so do standby for that information.

Meanwhile, Tara na, biyahe tayo!:)
