Our Christmas MomShare project: Visions of Hope

November 7, 2011 1 comment

MomShare has partnered with our good friend, former New York-based Filipina social worker, Kristinna Palomo, to establish our MomShare project for the holidays! Kristinna (Tin) just returned to Manila and is re-establishing her roots and career here in order to help NGOs and communities here who are in most need.

Our chosen beneficiary is the Visions of Hope community (CCT).

We are helping them build a new residential school for street children in Laguna. Through Tin, who is head of donor relations, a very popular US retail brand (who prefers to be unnamed but you’ll see who this generous donor is when you come to the bazaar!) donated brand new (unused) ORIGINAL clothing, around 1000 pieces and these will be available at the Mommy Mundo Bazaar to be held at the Rockwell Tent on Nov 19 and 20. 100% of sales from Tin’s booth will go to the Visions of Hope school project.

We would also like to ask for your help in fulfilling the simple wish list of the Visions of Hope children. We will be accepting donations at the Bazaar entrance or you may also send these to our Mommy Mundo office before November 30.

MomShare report: Giving Back-to-school smiles

August 19, 2011 No comments yet

Mommies! We’re happy to report that with YOUR help and support, we were able to help more than 400 kids from the Betty Go Belmonte Elementary School in Quezon City go back to school with smiles on their faces!

Little ladies with their red backpacks:) I must say they know how to pose for pics too! Super adorable:)

100% of the funds collected from Expo Kid entrance fees last February, plus donations and some funds from our other Mommy Mundo events went to our MomShare fund and this was used to purchase 400 colorful backpacks filled with school supplies for the children in the grade 2 level.

Love the colorful backpacks! We had these custom-made by another mompreneur, Emilene, my fave bag maker. Emilene also makes our Mommy Mundo totebags:)

The Betty Go Belmonte school principal, Ms. Thelma Villamor, organized the kids to come on a Saturday for the distribution and we were assisted by the Catholic Womens League (CWL) ladies spearheaded by Dr. Cris Villanueva (my mom in law).

I’m also so proud of my kids who also spent time helping us give out the backpacks. They had fun giving out the blue and green backpacks to the boys while the red and yellow ones went to the girls. (Orange is a bit neutral so it went to both girls and boys:P )

Special mention goes out to our mompreneur friend, Grace de Guia-Profeta, who generously pledged a portion of her Little Red Shoe sales from Expo Kid to this project. Thank you so much, Grace! (Grace is the 4th from left on the top row in the photo below. We are with the wonderful ladies of CWL who helped us with this project)

*Update: Baby Job is set to leave this April for Taiwan for his operation!:-)

OUR LATEST PROJECT!!! As we approach the second half of summer and we prepare for our own kids’ school materials, we also try to think of our fellow mommies who might be worrying about how they can get the budgets for their kids’ uniforms and school materials. So for this coming EXPO MOM, we pledge all entrance fees to purchase and put together uniforms and school supplies for these children in need.

Again, we need your support, mommies!! Here are ways you can help:-):

1) DONATE USED OR UNUSED OR NEW ITEMS. You may wish to pledge donations of the actual items. Just email us at info@mommymundo.com and tell us how many items and which ones you are willing to donate. We can pick up the items from you or you may bring it to Expo Mom on May 7 or to our office at Fun Ranch. Here are items you can donate!
a. School bags
b. School uniforms, shoes
c. School books/ storybooks
d. Pencil cases
e. Pens, pencils, crayons, art materials
f. Pad paper, Notebooks

2) Come to Expo Mom and simply pay the P25 entrance fee as 100% of this goes to the kids too! We will also be accepting donations in cash and kind at the MomShare table.

3) VOLUNTEER your time! Once we have all the donations collected, we will be needing help preparing and packing the items for distribution. If you would like to come and help us pack and/or distribute, please email us! If you would like your kids to come and join us, they are by all means welcome!

MomShare! is Mommy Mundo’s YOUR outreach arm. Our goal is to provide opportunities for all of us (including our kids and our families) to be able to help other moms and families who are in need. THANK YOU in advance for your continued support and generosity!:)

Our MomShare! report for 2010

February 23, 2011 No comments yet

MomShare! is a mom-iniated and mom-funded outreach arm. Mommy Mundo is MomShare’s founder and initiator but it’s projects are fueled by none other than its mommy community, that is YOU!

With YOUR generosity we have been able to be of help to several causes since 2009. Here are some of our beneficiaries and projects in 2010:

*Fundraising for Baby Seb’s heart surgery – read more here

Update: Baby Seb had his heart surgery and is now doing well!:-) See his latest photos here

Then in October, we were joined by mommy volunteers in organizing an art class for the children of the House of Refuge. We met up at McDonald’s in Araneta Center, and with the guidance of our good friend, former Good Housekeeping editor, current Urban Mom and Mommy Pages editor, and crafty mom, Jing Lejano, enjoyed cardmaking and bag painting activities with the kids. Here are photos from our activity:

After the art class and some snacks, we walked over to Araneta Coliseum where the kids were in for a big treat! Free seats to a PBA game courtesy of PBA correspondent, active mom of 2, and philanthropist Patricia Bermudez-Hizon.

In December, we guested the rondalla group of the Children’s Joy Foundation at the Expo Mom Bazaar. As we enjoyed their talent and music at the bazaar, we were also able to extend to them a humble donation to help out the musician children:-).

By January 2011, Mommy Mundo hosted a fun day at Fun Ranch for kids from Silong Tanglaw. The kids had a day of unlimited rides in the haven of fun, Fun Ranch. After spending hours going around the rides and games, the kids were treated to yummy snacks at the Big Red Barn. Here are some photos from the activity:

The funds used for these projects were raised through your support for our Mommy Mundo events. We pledge 100% of entrance fees from all Expos to go to our MomShare! projects. That means, everytime you go to an event and pay the 25 peso entrance fee, you HELP someone in need or put a smile on another kid’s face. In addition, MomShare! has also supported other causes:

• Your pledges and donations from last year’s Expo Mom Bazaar’s gift and Christmas tree drive are going to CRIBS foundation.

This toy and gift drive was also supported by GYMBOREE families. Ann Tan of Gymboree generously offered to conduct gift drives in various Gymboree Centers in Manila and the families were more than happy to contribute. Thank you so much for your time and effort, Ann and thank you also to all Gymboree families who helped out!

• Book Drive for the Bahay Kalipay Library – We were able to solicit some book donations from friends and family for the Bahay Kalipay Library in Puerto Princesa. (They are still open to donations. For interested parties, please contact Daniw at

MomShare!: A Healthy Heart for Seb

September 5, 2010 1 comment

At the recent Mommy Milkshake Run, we invited  mommy Shiela to support them in their cause.

Seb's mommy, Shiela and Janice of Mommy Mundo at the recent Mommy Milkshake run

Shiela is mom to a very special baby boy named Sebastian Aramis.  Seb, who is now 1 year and 4 months of age was born premature, and at 3 months was diagnosed to have congenital heart disease.  Since the diagnosis, Shiela and her husband has been on a mission to raise funds for the much-needed operation.  The only treatment for congenital heart disease is open heart surgery, THE SOONER THE BETTER, and Seb’s parents need to raise P400,000. for this procedure.

Support Seb through FB: A Healthy Heart for Seb

To do this, they set up a Facebook page, A HEALTHY HEART FOR SEB and through the page they sell special shirts which saw “I HEART A CHILD WITH CHD” (See photo above of Shiela wearing the tee) at P 250@.  All proceeds from shirt sales go to the operation.  Get a shirt now and help a fellow mommy!  You can message Shiela through FB if you are interested in helping Seb get his operation!

A Healthy Heart for Seb will also be our MomShare! beneficiary at the upcoming Expo Kid on October 2, at the Rockwell Tent.  100% of the proceeds from registration will help fund Seb’s surgery.
