Mommy-Friend Saves the Day!
All moms would agree that we need fellow moms in our lives from the most trivial to the most crucial of reasons. We all have that mother’s instinct that binds us together, which makes us understand each other without even trying. Here are some stories of how these real-life superheroes have helped these moms get out of tight situations:
Pain of Breastfeeding The Mom in Need: Ines Yao, mom of Addie, 6, and Tammy, 10 months The Situation: As a new mommy, Ines was struggling with breastfeeding her firstborn. Her nipples became excruciatingly painful; she couldn’t wash her hands in cold water without feeling sharp pain in her nipples. And whenever her baby would latch, she would brace herself for the pain. The Save: Her mommy-friend gave her a half-empty tube of lanolin cream and Ines was able to breastfeed her firstborn for two years.
Bomb Threat The Mom in Need: Mei Pedernal, mom of Jacob, 12, Zach, 8, and Tara, 3 The Situation: Mei was alerted about a bomb scare in her sons’ school via SMS. She did not know how to get in touch with both her sons but left to go to school to pick them up. With very limited information about the bomb scare, her fear was escalating. The Save: Mei’s mommy-friend called her on the phone to tell her that she spotted both her boys in school and was going to take them with her and drive them to a safer location, away from the supposed bomb. Mei met them at the location thankful that her boys were safe and were even fed!
Travel Tips The Mom in Need: Irene Recio, mom of Andi, 6 The Situation: It was Irene’s and her husband’s first time to go on a long haul trip with their daughter. She was nervous and worried on how it will go. The Save: Irene’s mommy-friend, who frequently traveled with her child, gave her tips on how to survive this trip, from how to entertain her daughter on the plane and where to buy affordable winter clothes to bringing lip balm to prevent chapped lips. The trip went well.
Wardrobe Malfunction The Mom in Need: Karen Dela Paz, mom of Inigo, 7 The Situation: Karen was attending a wedding out of town. Ten minutes into the wedding ceremony, the strap of her shoe broke. She couldn’t walk with it. The Save: Karen’s mommy-friend lent her her driving slippers, which were in her car. Karen attended the wedding ceremony and reception in slippers and just laughed through the whole thing.
Sanity Break The Mom in Need: Grace Ilagan, mom of Carlos, 10, Manuel, 7, Sofia, 3, Enzo, 1 The Situation: Grace was getting overwhelmed. She had to keep track of her kids’ schedule, deliver orders for her baked goodies, do errands, and attend to her parents while her husband was away on a business trip.
